About Me:
I am a mother of two girls of ages 10 and 13. I run a family home with my partner and we have 3 cats and a goldfish. We all love cooking, baking and gardening and my children and I grow our own vegetables in our garden.it's a perfect way to enjoy the sunshine (when we have some) and to encourage my girls to appreciate where food comes from..plus organic veg tastes so good! I believe that being a carer means you actually have to care..about the individual and also to care about the tasks you are undertaking. Helping people to stay as independent as they can for as long as they can is of the utmost of importance to me.Being able to provide a professional yet friendly and down to earth service is also vital in order to build up consistent, confident amd reliable relationships between carer and individual. I would love to be able to make the slightest bit of difference to people's lives by assisting them in all manners of daily tasks and activities, no matter how big or small they are believed to be, because if it matters to you then it matters to me
Other Services:
I am currently taking driving lessons with the aim to be taking test shortly. I always get around by my push bike and I encourage my family to do the same. We love walking also and we use public transport (buses, trains and taxis) if needed and I would be more than happy to help people get to appointments, shopping trips, social trips etc via these services ( where possible ) until and/or after I am official to be on the road myself.
Experience
Other Experience:
I consider myself to have a very extensive all round knowledge of a large number of health issues. I have assisted to care for both my grandmothers who had vascular dementia amongst other serious ailments including cancer and osteoporosis porosis. I had a very hands on approach in all manners of care including peraonal care, moving and handling, domestic assitance as well as social help like shopping and simply just spending time with them.Helping my family and friends is what made me want to make a career put of something I absolutely love doing.the skills I have learned with family as well as with care companies has lead me to wanting to become self employed and eventually start up my own small company with standards to the highest level achievable.
Qualifications
Other Qualifications:
I have experience 'out in the field' so to speak and assisting people in their homes. I am finishing my Nvq in social care in may 2017 and I will be going onto the next level as soon as possible with the intention of obtaining as many qualifications with the paperwork to cover it as I can. I would like to think that my abilities, competence and experience along with my character will shine through to any invidual who would like to get in touch with me.
Interests
Food: We love cooking, baking and trying new things. My latest mission is my soon to be 10year olds birthday cake as she wold like a three layered topsy turvy cake..I'll give anything a good go as I love a challenge
Music: Music is the voice of the soul! I was brought up to appreciate all kinds of music and have an extensive knowledge of most forms. We love music and always have some on in our house..the radio goes on when the kettle goes on in the morning and stays on all day. I love it when a specific song comes on and you can be transformed to another place in time via your memory..nostalgia is an amazing thing and I love how it triggers memories from myself and others.
TV: Well as television seems to be quite rubbish these days , I admit I don't Watch much. We love our soaps..corrie, emmerale and eastenders and my daughters love watching their music and dancing shows.
Films: We love watching a film snuggled up with the duvets on the sofa and the curtains drawn..who needs to fork out for the cinema hey! My partner and I love a good mystery film..one that gets your brain going and keeps you glued to the TV. My daughters are just getting into the more 'teenager' films now. All the dance films and remakes of the old Disney classics go down a storm in our home..with kids and adults alike!
Books: I don't get to read half as much as I'd like to nowadays. There's something about losing yourself in a book that is so appealing. I love fiction books but also true life stories. Torry Haydon being one author I am fascinated by. Would really love to get back into reading again..possibility for the future
Days Out: We love anything that takes you away from the daily struggles of life. A trip to the park and a picnic or a wander down to the country park is amazing. We are privileged to have so much nature nearby. I was brought up to appreciate all the world's creatures and plants and our garden shows that. We do our bit for the birds and insects and the amount of butterflies we get yearly due to our butterfly trees and flowers is wonderful.my grandparents taught me to enjoy the immediate surroundings and to take pride in them. Hence why sometimes a day in the garden pottering around while my daughters are off out playing, can be pure bliss sometimes. We love getting to the beach come rain or shine and we all love a bit football too amongst other sports like dancing and netball.
Other Interests: I think I have covered most interests. I love being a mum!! Having two (not so) little versions of me to pass on my knowledge and experience to is such a beautiful thing and they show me everyday how they appreciate the things around them. Money does not buy you happiness.
I love meeting people, which is why being a carer/support worker is such a rewarding job for me.
