Details:
Hello, my parents are moving to London in October and we need to set up new PA care for them. Care support is mainly for Mum, who is 74 and living with dementia (moderate severity), but occasionally also for Dad who is 79 and has a number of health conditions and limited mobility.
Mum loves classical music, languages (especially German), good food (in small quantities) and cats. She has a sly sense of humour and it really does her good to have a laugh.
Currently in Devon, they have a PA for a couple of hours each day five days a week:
- To ensure Mum can get out each day for a varied outing providing fun and companionship and to give Dad a break
- To check in that medications are being taken regularly
- To support with small things around the home
- Occasionally to provide lifts to appointments. [This will be less needed when they are in London nearer their 2 daughters.]
Mum also has day care for one whole day a week, and we may look to replace that also.
We would expect to spend a bit of time building rapport and trust initially with the PA role focused on companionship, and then as needs increase, potentially explore further areas such as personal care support (showering, etc).
If you are interested in the role, we would love to hear a bit about you and your approach to Personal Assistance and in particular, your experience of/approach to dementia care.
Many thanks!
Rosie.
