Hi l’mLooking for a ‘live in carer’ for my father, he is 76 and has Parkinson’s disease
He needs help with showering and personal care, help with dressing, to add cream to help prevent pressure sores, to walk with with him as he uses his 4 wheeled walker& sits down safely; & making him light breakfast and lunch and cooked dinner
To sit with him when eating and drinking as has dysphagia, to promp and encourage use of techniques when needed (I can teach such as ‘slow down, tongue around teeth ,dry swallow, few minutes break to minimise potential risk of choking or food going down wrong area) and when takes tablets, we have timed alarm tablet box but tend to give tablets on spoon with water
Taking for walks, he walks the wheelchair when can ,so he can lean on it and when tires or ‘freezes’ will need help to sit back down in wheelchair and be pushed in chair
To help him if he needs a bowel movement ,walk with him to the toilet make sure on toilet properly, come bk to clean him& add cream.
Also to assist him with basic exercises and speech therapy practice to strengthen voice and crossword twice a week when up to it
Someone who is happy to cook dinner even to make enough for a couple of days so not need to cook everyday if its a meal cooked from fresh& takes longer for example, a vegetable stew, vegetable currey you can make enough to last for a couple of days ... and to wash up
and be happy to do general housework
My father is a quiet gentle man, he has very quiet voice and can be hard to hear and communicate with sometimes and uses a speech card, due to Parkinson’s,
He enjoys listening to& watching dvds of music- irish, country, 50s to 70s, singing, watching sport football, olympics etc, films, travel programmes, documentaries, games
I’m looking for a gentle ,patient, emphatic, kind ,caring person who happy to help and assist my father to make sure he safe due to mobility issues and Parkinson’s
