Details:
My parents live on the edge of Inverness and are looking for a permanent helper.
Mum is mentally very much there but has a variety of physical problems, including her heart. She can only walk short distances but is determined to enjoy gardening for as long as she can.
Dad has Alzheimer and is sadly deteriorating fast; he is also incontinent. He nonetheless enjoys going out with the dog every day and spends much of his time pottering around in the garage and garden.
It is no longer possible for Mum to give Dad the care he needs, but she does not want to send him to a home. She is therefore looking for someone who can help with getting Dad up and dressed, doing the washing, cleaning the house, going shopping Also accompanying Dad when he goes walking (or picking him up if he gets lost!) and generally keeping an eye on him. Last but not least she would love to have someone to talk to and give her a hand in the garden – I live on the continent and only get a chance to visit from time to time.
They have a bedroom with private bathroom upstairs in their house and so having somebody living in would be a real possibility. They also have a car which anyone with a license can drive. Their house is in a pretty little hamlet just outside Inverness (5 minutes by car), great for someone who likes walking and nature.
My parents have travelled all over the world and are very open to other cultures – before Dad became so ill they frequently welcomed guests from Servas and other such organisations to their home. They both speak French and Swahili and Mum is particularly good at communicating with people whose native language is not English.
They have asked me to check what options are open to them as Mum already has more than enough to do and is finding the combination of Dad’s illness and COVID extremely stressful
This basically be a 40hr/week job, the details of which are open to discussion; you would of course need a permit to stay in the UK.
