About Me:
When I moved back to England after living most of my life in South Africa I felt a need for a career change so I moved into care. I found this was an extremely rewarding profession and I was coming home with a great sense of achievement in what I was accomplishing. I then moved into a position as a Self Employed Private Personal Care Assistant and work within the Exmouth, Budleigh, Woodbury, and Lympstone area. I have now been in care for 4 rewarding years. I am totally dedicated to my work, my clients and their families, I make sure that we have a good solid care plan in place that will improve their lifestyle. I go above and beyond to make sure that my client’s needs whatever they may be, are met and that they are empowered to make achievements and have a feeling of self-worth. Everybody is different and therefore requires you to behave and act in accordance with their specific needs. Sometimes I feel like a bit of a chameleon. One-minute I’m shopping, taking a client out and about, cooking, baking, playing a board game, going to clubs or just simply being an engaged companion. Then I’m doing personal care, bathing or showering clients, giving meds or trying a bit of gentle exercise. Should any of my clients require further assistance from medical or any other professionals, I make sure this this is put into place. I also work closely with the medical teams, hospice and such to ensure that all of my client’s needs are met physically and emotionally. I love to see the improvement in their physical and emotional wellbeing. I have experience in Dementia, Alzheimer’s, Cancer, Parkinson’s, Cerebral Palsy to name a few and not to mention end of life care. My role in their support is ever changing. With having years of experience in administration, I take notes and document any incidents thoroughly. I also have client files which are kept up to date daily. I assist in setting up appointments and assist in making sure that what is discussed in the appointments is brought to fruition. When signing up new clients a full risk assessment is completed which is re-evaluated as the clients’ needs change. I work well on my own or part of a team and communicate well with a variety of different people from all levels of society. I am thorough, pay attention to detail, caring, empathetic and compassionate. I am lucky enough to work with a handful of exceptional private care assistants and therefore we have the luxury of being able to provide care 7 days a week.
