About Me:

I've lived and worked in the UK for 21 years. Originally from South Africa, I initially ventured abroad for a two year working holiday. Since that time, I have had a colorful working career, having worked as a sales assistant, painter and decorator, project coordinator, and now as a carer. I worked for a charity for ten years, and in my capacity as project coordinator, travelled to northern Uganda frequently to oversee various initiatives. I have developed a sense of identity with vulnerable individuals through my involvement with helping the rural poor in Africa, and would describe myself as a caring,nurturing person who loves to assist others. I have a keen awareness of the needs of others, and have a natural empathy and concern for others. I have a fantastic sense of humour and optimism and this lends itself perfectly to being a conscientious and effective carer.

Interests

Food: I'm a big fan of Italian foods, and I'm well known amongst friends for making a fantastic macaroni dish. I can cook most things upon request and am comfortable in the kitchen.

Music: Rather varied, my musical tastes include 80's,90's and anything current, although I have a fondess for jazz. Some classical music appeals, but I would not consider myself a purist in any sense of the word

TV: I am not a keen lover of TV, but on occasion I do enjoy Only fools and Horses, which I consider to be quintessential English comedy

Films: Shaw shank redemption, road to perdition, gladiator are among my favorite films. I also enjoy intelligent and creative animation, such as the Incredibles, Sing and Monsters Inc (definitely my nephews influence!)

Books: Currently studying so don't too much time for reading, but I do enjoy a good fantasy novel on occasion

Days Out: Beach, walks in the park, or swimming

Other Interests: Badminton is my first love and have played since my teenage years
