About Me:
Hello, I am seeking work with older people as I am looking for a more meaningful role as a companion/helper after being self-employed as a dog-walker and cleaner for three years. Prior to this I worked as a Prison Officer for 18 years helping on rehabilitation programmes. I am 54 years old and married with four children.My youngest is 11 and Mum lives with us since my father died three years ago.I have learnt a lot about older peoples'needs since Mum came to stay and feel that I have a deeper understanding of how to help Mum live as independent a life as possible whilst recognising times when she needs a bit of assistance. Whilst I can't say that I have direct experience of providing personal care as Mum is still physically active, I can offer my patience,ability to empathise and hopefully some humour along the way. I am a committed person and very reliable. I have several referees from my current and past role who will confirm this. Food: I love all foods apart from shellfish . I especially enjoy chocolate.
Music: I enjoy listening to pop,classical and 80s tunes !
TV: I enjoy nature programmes and some comedies.
Films: I love watching period films,spy and thrillers in general.
Books: I read a lot and have read most of the classics over the years. I currently read modern fiction and enjoy most genres.
Days Out: I enjoy family days out in the Lake District walking. I am very knowlegeable about local areas and am always looking for events that suit all of us.
Other Interests: I enjoy learning languages and am particularly interested in French and Russian.
